About SVM files
The .SVM file extension is highly fragmented and used across entirely different industries. Primarily, it serves as a Software Virtual Machine virtual application package used by Turbo.net (formerly Spoon) to containerize desktop software. These files bundle an application's registry, files, and dependencies into an isolated environment. Another major use is in the sim racing community. Titles like RaceRoom Racing Experience, rFactor 2, and Le Mans Ultimate use .SVM files to store complex vehicle tuning setups. In data science, .SVM files store Support Vector Machine datasets or trained models for libraries like LIBSVM or OpenCV. Additionally, it occasionally appears as a legacy StarView Metafile graphic from StarDivision, a loudspeaker system model for NEXO NS-1, or a 3D furniture model for Scavolini.
The Problem: The extreme fragmentation of the .SVM format means you often cannot open a file without knowing its exact origin. Virtualization packages are massive, proprietary binary files locked to specific runtimes. Racing setups are often unreadable outside the game engine. Machine learning models are heavily dependent on the specific library version that generated them. Legacy graphic formats like StarView are not supported by modern web browsers or image viewers.
The Solution: You must convert the file based on its underlying type. For machine learning models, convert to JSON or .ONNX for better interoperability across frameworks. Sim racing setups can sometimes be parsed to TXT or CSV to share tuning parameters on forums. StarView Metafiles must be converted to SVG or PNG for web compatibility. If your .SVM is a Scavolini 3D model, it is likely a compressed archive that can be extracted to ZIP. Drag and drop your file to analyze and convert it securely right in your browser.

If you want to convert SVM file to SVG, AI, EPS, JPG, CDR, WMF, SWF, FLA, XFL or SKETCH, you can use Turbo.net or similar software from the "Virtual Application Package" category. In the File menu, look for Save As… or Export….
To convert AFPUB, EPS, FIG, VSD, SKETCH, VDX, AFPHOTO, PDF, AFDESIGN, SVG, VSDX or AI files to SVM, try Turbo.net or another comparable tool in the "Virtual Application Package" category.
The SVM Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our SVM converter.
