About DLF files
The .DLF file extension is heavily fragmented and serves multiple unrelated purposes. Its primary usage is as a Document Library Format containing packaged customer correspondence generated by enterprise systems. Alternatively, it is widely used as a Data Log File by hardware and diagnostic tools, including dive computers, network test software, and cellular drive diagnostic tools. Depending on the origin, these files can be opened using OpenText Exstream, TrendReader, or Qualcomm QXDM.
The main disadvantage of the .DLF format is this extreme fragmentation. You cannot determine the file's structure simply by looking at the extension. OpenText files require expensive proprietary software to view natively. Diagnostic logs are usually locked inside binary structures or proprietary databases (like JetDB) and cannot be read natively by standard spreadsheet applications or text editors. Furthermore, some hardware vendors use .DLF for raw firmware updates or emulator caches, which lack standard headers.
To make this data accessible, conversion is necessary. For Exstream correspondence documents, converting to PDF is best for archiving and sharing. Since these are often ZIP containers under the hood, renaming or converting to ZIP allows you to extract the raw XML and resources. For data logs and diagnostic databases, convert to CSV or XML to enable analysis in standard spreadsheet software.
Convert.Guru analyzes your DLF file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.

The DLF Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our DLF converter.
