Convert SSL to another file type
To convert your SSL file to another format, you need EasySense or other Data software.
Convert a file to SSL
To convert other file formats to the "Sensor Log File" file type, you need software like EasySense or a similar tool.
About SSL files
The .ssl extension is a unique identifier shared by three distinct ecosystems, often causing confusion for users expecting standard security certificates.
1. Data Harvest EasySense (Primary): The most common technical use of this extension is for data logger files generated by EasySense software from Data Harvest. These files store raw sensor data (temperature, light, motion) collected during educational science experiments. While the internal format is often UTF-16 (LE) text, opening them directly in a standard text editor can result in garbled headers or formatting issues. Users typically need to convert these files to CSV or XLSX to analyze the dataset in Microsoft Excel or Google Sheets without relying on the legacy EasySense interface.
2. Fallout Script Files: In the modding community for the classic RPGs Fallout and Fallout 2, an .ssl file represents a source script. These are human-readable text files containing the logic for NPC behavior, quests, and game events. To be used in-game, they must be compiled into INT files. Modders frequently convert or edit these using basic tools like Notepad++ to alter game mechanics.
3. Sunlite ScanLibrary: Lighting technicians use .ssl files (specifically SSL1/SSL2) with Sunlite Suite and Daslight software. These files contain the profile definitions for DMX lighting fixtures (moving heads, LEDs), dictating how the software controls the hardware.
Critical Note: While "SSL" universally stands for Secure Sockets Layer, standard security certificates usually use CRT, PEM, or KEY extensions. If you have a web security file named .ssl, it is likely a misnamed PEM file that simply needs renaming to be recognized by server software like Apache or Nginx.
Convert.Guru analyzes your SSL file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
If you want to convert SSL file to PFX, JKS, P12, CSV, JSON, XML, YAML, YML, TOML, INI, CFG or CONF, you can use EasySense or similar software from the "Data Logger Storage" category. In the File menu, look for Save As… or Export….
To convert DBF, XML, SQLITE, XLSX, SQL, TSV, ACCDB, YAML, MDB, CSV, ODS or JSON files to SSL, try EasySense or another comparable tool in the "Data Logger Storage" category.
The SSL Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our SSL converter.
