Convert a file to SSL

To convert other file formats to the "Data Logger File" file type, you need software like EasySense or a similar tool.

About SSL files

The .SSL file extension serves multiple specialized purposes. Most commonly, it functions as a UTF-16 (LE) encoded data logger file created by Data Harvest EasySense software. These files capture scientific sensor data for educational and research environments. Additionally, the .SSL format is used for uncompiled source scripts in Fallout games by Bethesda Softworks, and as fixture profiles for Nicolaudie Sunlight ScanLibrary stage lighting software.

Users frequently need to convert .SSL files because they are tied to restrictive, niche hardware ecosystems. Data Harvest files are proprietary and require their specific desktop software to visualize the logged graphs. These files exceed standard formatting limitations, meaning they cannot be natively opened by modern web browsers or standard spreadsheet tools. This limits your ability to share sensor data or perform independent statistical analysis without a mandatory software installation.

The most practical conversion targets are CSV or TXT. Converting an EasySense .SSL log to CSV enables seamless import into Microsoft Excel or Google Sheets. For Fallout game scripts, a basic TXT conversion is best for code editing. Keep in mind that when converting a Sunlight ScanLibrary file, you will likely lose the complex DMX channel mappings required by the lighting hardware.

Because these files are closed and proprietary, standard online converters usually fail to process them. Data Harvest uses specific internal encoding, while lighting libraries rely on closed binary data structures. Often, only the original software can properly read or export this data. However, you can still use convert.guru as a practical workaround. Just drag and drop your file to identify the format, view it, and convert it when possible. Our analysis tools can inspect the file, bypass the extension, and show text or internal content. If our analysis detects a supported underlying or embedded format, viewing or conversion may still be possible.

Convert.Guru analyzes your SSL file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.

Users also converted SSL2, JKS, ESM, BIO, BSP, PFX and P12 files.

FAQ

If you want to convert SSL file to PFX, JKS, P12, CSV, JSON, XML, YAML, YML, TOML, INI, CFG or CONF, you can use EasySense or similar software from the "Data Logger Export File" category. In the File menu, look for Save As… or Export….

To convert DBF, XML, SQLITE, XLSX, SQL, TSV, ACCDB, YAML, MDB, CSV, ODS or JSON files to SSL, try EasySense or another comparable tool in the "Data Logger Export File" category.

The SSL Converter Story

The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our SSL converter.
