The .SR file extension acts as a chameleon in the digital world, most frequently representing a DICOM Structured Report. In engineering workflows, .SR files function as Session Records for sigrok, a portable signal analysis suite, or similar logic analyzers like Saleae Logic. These files are technically ZIP archives packaging captured logic data and metadata. Engineers often hit a wall when trying to share these captures with colleagues using different hardware; converting the session data to CSV for spreadsheet analysis or VCD (Value Change Dump) for universal waveform viewing is the standard workaround. Finally, legacy systems may generate .SR files as Sun Raster graphics, an obsolete bitmap format that modern web browsers do not support.
