About SKI files
A .ski file is primarily a proprietary 3D model format associated with the Angelica Engine, developed by Perfect World Entertainment. These files store "skinned" meshes, which map 3D geometry to a skeletal bone structure (often found in separate .bon files) to enable character animation in MMORPGs like Perfect World International and Jade Dynasty.
Because .ski files are optimized strictly for the game engine, they are essentially "locked" to the average user. You cannot simply double-click to view them, nor can you import them directly into standard tools like Blender or Unity without specialized community-made scripts or plugins. Furthermore, they are often compressed within larger package archives (PCK files), making access even more tedious.
To use these models for 3D printing, rendering, or modding, the most practical workflow is converting them to widely supported exchange formats.
- For Editing & Animation: Convert to FBX or DAE (Collada), which attempt to preserve the rigging and bone hierarchy.
- For Static Mesh/Printing: Convert to OBJ, which discards the skeleton but keeps the geometry intact.
*Note: In rare legacy cases, a .ski file may be an interface theme for older Motorola mobile phones. These are simple archives that should be converted to ZIP to extract the images inside.*
Convert.Guru analyzes your SKI file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
Users also converted NVX2, PT and RBXM files.
The SKI Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our SKI converter.
