Extract text from SBP files
To convert your SBP file to another format, you need Satisfactory or other Game software.
To convert other file formats to the "Blueprint & Data Archive" file type, you need software like Satisfactory or a similar tool.
The .sbp extension is a multi-purpose format that causes significant confusion because it is shared by games, music apps, and industrial machinery. Its most common modern use is as a Satisfactory Blueprint file, generated by the factory-building game Satisfactory (Coffee Stain Studios). These files store layout designs (factories, logistics) and are proprietary, meaning they cannot be opened or edited in standard text editors without corruption.
A strong secondary use (approx. 18% of files) is the SongbookPro backup archive. While these carry the .sbp extension, they are technically compressed ZIP containers holding song lyrics and chords. Users often find themselves locked out of their own data because their PC does not recognize the extension as an archive.
In the manufacturing world, .sbp stands for ShopBot Program, a text-based CNC toolpath file using the OpenSBP language. While similar to industry-standard G-Code, it is specific to ShopBot machines, creating a "walled garden" that prevents machinists from running these files on generic CNC routers (like GRBL or Mach3 based systems). Legacy uses also include audio packages from God of War and binary GPS logs from LOCOSYS devices.
