About RW files
The .RW file extension is a classic example of a filename collision, used by completely unrelated software ecosystems. The most technical variation is the Raw ACPI Table Dump generated by RWEverything (Read & Write Everything). These files contain low-level hardware configuration data useful for developers and engineers, but they are practically unreadable to standard text editors without first converting them to TXT or HTML reports.
In the education sector, .RW files function as report definitions for Genesis Education software. These are typically XML-based but require the proprietary suite to interpret correctly; users often need to convert these to PDF for archiving or sharing with parents and administration.
A significant portion of .RW files are also simply renamed RAR compressed archives or proprietary backup containers using RAR algorithms. Opening these requires identifying the true header or renaming the extension to RAR to extract contents with WinRAR. Finally, some Samsung Smart TVs use this extension for WebP images inside RIFF containers, which causes compatibility issues on PC unless converted to standard JPG or PNG formats.
Convert.Guru analyzes your RW file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
If you want to convert RW file to STC or JPG, you can use RWEverything or similar software from the "Hardware Data Dump" category. In the File menu, look for Save As… or Export….

The RW Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our RW converter.
