About RT files
The .rt file extension is a highly fragmented format used by entirely different software ecosystems. In modern environments, it most commonly functions as a Unity Render Target texture used by the Unity game engine to capture and store live camera outputs or off-screen rendering. Alternatively, it serves as a daily precipitation data file for the NOAA Climate Prediction Center, a VMS system report for DeLaval hardware, an abbreviated RTF (Rich Text Format) document for Microsoft Word, or a heavily outdated RealText streaming file from RealNetworks. The severe disadvantage of the .rt format is this identity crisis. Without knowing the exact source, your operating system will fail to open it. Unity .rt textures are proprietary binary graphics caches completely unreadable by standard image viewers, requiring active Unity engine environments to function. NOAA climate files require specialized data-science scripts in Python to unpack. Because this format is heavily closed, proprietary, or highly specific, standard online converters universally fail to process it.
