About AMM files

The .amm extension is most frequently associated with Act! Mail Merge templates used by Act! CRM (formerly Sage ACT!). These files contain the layout and variable placeholders for automated email or letter campaigns, rather than the final readable text. The Problem: Because an AMM file is a raw template, you cannot open it in standard word processors like Microsoft Word or view it in a web browser. If you received one by mistake, you likely needed the final output (e.g., a DOCX or PDF), not the source code containing {Contact.Name} tags.

Alternatively, your file might be a database from All My Movies by Bolide Software. These files store your entire video catalog, including cover art and metadata. Users often find themselves locked into this format when they want to migrate to a cloud service or share their list. The Solution: For Act! files, the best approach is using the original software to "perform" the merge and save the result as DOCX or PDF for archiving. For All My Movies databases, you should convert the proprietary AMM data to CSV or XLSX (Excel) to ensure your catalog remains accessible outside the specific software environment.

Convert.Guru analyzes your AMM file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.

Users also converted MFG, PAG and RT files.

The AMM Converter Story

The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our AMM converter.
