About RT_ files
The .rt_ file extension typically represents a Compressed Rich Text Format file. These files are standard RTF documents that have been compressed using Microsoft's SZDD compression algorithm (common in older installation media where .rtf becomes .rt_) or generated by reporting tools like FastReport as temporary or export artifacts.
Because the file ends in an underscore, standard word processors like Microsoft Word or text editors cannot recognize or open it directly. This proprietary compression acts as a lock, preventing you from viewing the formatted text, tables, and images inside. To use the content, the file must first be "expanded" or decompressed back into a standard RTF. Once decompressed, the file is best converted to DOCX for modern editing, PDF for fixed-layout sharing and archiving, or HTML for publishing to the web.
Convert.Guru analyzes your RT_ file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
If you want to convert RT_ file to ZIP, RAR, 7Z, TAR, GZ, BZ2, XZ, LZMA, CAB, ACE, ARJ or LHA, you can use 7-Zip or similar software from the "Compressed Document Storage" category. In the File menu, look for Save As… or Export….
To convert XXE, 7Z, Z, PAK, LHA, DEB, UUE, TAR, LZH, ZIP, PKG or RAR files to RT_, try 7-Zip or another comparable tool in the "Compressed Document Storage" category.
The RT_ Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our RT_ converter.
