About RSS files
The .RSS file extension is heavily fragmented. While universally known as a Rich Site Summary web feed syndication file formatted in XML, real-world data shows it is equally likely to be a proprietary project file for Rockwell Automation RSLogix 500 or a recovery scan result from MiniTool Power Data Recovery. Less commonly, it acts as a RAM Structural System model or a Symbian application resource. This overlapping usage creates severe conversion headaches. Web feed .RSS files are plain text, easily read by browsers or aggregators, but the raw XML tags make them difficult for non-technical users to read directly. Conversely, RSLogix 500 files use a proprietary Microsoft Compound structure to store PLC (Programmable Logic Controller) data. These are closed-ecosystem files requiring expensive industrial software to read. Similarly, MiniTool .RSS files are proprietary session states designed exclusively to resume paused hard drive scans. Users usually want to convert web feed .RSS files to TXT, PDF, or CSV to read the text content clearly without XML clutter. Standard online converters fail miserably with .RSS files because they blindly assume every file is an XML web feed. When fed an RSLogix or MiniTool binary file, they crash. These formats are difficult to open or convert because often only the original software can properly read or export the proprietary binary data. Our engine analyzes the file header, determines exactly which type of .RSS file you have, and extracts readable text or embedded formats if supported.
Convert.Guru analyzes your RSS file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.

The RSS Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our RSS converter.
