About RPR files
The .rpr extension is shared by four distinct file types, creating significant confusion for users.
Hino Diagnostic eXplorer File (29%): The most common use is a vehicle reprogramming package for Hino and Hyundai trucks. While these appear as proprietary system files, they are often standard ZIP archives containing firmware and ECU data. Users typically cannot open these without Hino Diagnostic eXplorer, but changing the extension to zip may allow inspection of the internal data.
PaperPort Scanned Document (12%): Older versions of Nuance PaperPort (now Kofax) used this extension for scanned documents. Crucially, the internal structure is often identical to a standard PDF. Users struggling to open these in modern viewers like Chrome or Adobe Acrobat can often simply rename the file extension from .rpr to pdf to make it readable immediately.
Dapodik Prefill Data (5%): Used by the Indonesian Ministry of Education's Dapodik application. This is a compressed 7z archive containing school data prefill files. It is not meant to be opened manually but loaded into the Dapodik system. Advanced users can open it with 7-Zip to verify contents.
REAPER Project File (5%): A project file for the REAPER Digital Audio Workstation (DAW). It contains edit decisions and mixer settings, not the actual audio. You must open it in REAPER and "render" the project to convert it to playable formats like MP3 or WAV.
