Convert REPP to another file type
To convert REPP files to another format, you need Emsisoft Decryptor or other Encoded software.
Convert a file to REPP
To convert other file formats to the "Malware Encrypted File" file type, you need software like Emsisoft Decryptor or a similar tool.
About REPP files
A .REPP file is a standard file - such as a JPG image or PDF document - that has been maliciously locked by the STOP/Djvu ransomware family. Cybercriminals use this malware algorithm to encrypt personal data and extort users for a decryption key.
No standard desktop application can open or edit this file type natively. Reversing the damage requires specialized security tools, such as the Emsisoft Decryptor for STOP Djvu, which can unlock files if an offline key was used during the attack.
Victims urgently need to convert these files back to their original state. However, the .REPP format presents severe challenges. It is highly proprietary and scrambled using military-grade AES or Salsa20 encryption. Standard online converters fail entirely because the essential file headers - the blueprints that tell software how to read the data - are destroyed or obfuscated. Simply removing the .REPP extension will not work.
The ultimate goal is to recover the original target formats, like JPG or PDF. Because standard conversion is impossible, you must approach this as an analysis and recovery task. Just drag and drop your file to convert.guru to identify the format, view its internal structure, and convert it when possible.
This file format is exceptionally difficult to process because only the original cryptographic key can properly reconstruct the data. However, convert.guru can still inspect the raw Hex code of the file. If our analysis detects an intact underlying or embedded format - which frequently happens if the ransomware only partially encrypted a very large file to save time - viewing fragments of the original content may still be possible.
Convert.Guru analyzes your REPP file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
If you want to convert REPP file to BASE64, HEX, BIN, ENC, CRYPT, AES, DES, RSA, PGP, GPG, ASC or KEY, you can use Emsisoft Decryptor or similar software from the "Ransomware Encrypted Payload" category. In the File menu, look for Save As… or Export….
To convert CER, BIN, PEM, DER, KEY, P7S, PFX, ENC, P12, BASE64, P7B or HEX files to REPP, try Emsisoft Decryptor or another comparable tool in the "Ransomware Encrypted Payload" category.
The REPP Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our REPP converter.
