About MARK files

The .mark file is a proprietary annotation data format used by Ratta Supernote e-ink tablets. Its primary use case is storing handwritten pen strokes, highlights, and markup data created by users while reading documents on the device. You can access and manage these files using the Supernote Cloud or the official Supernote Partner App.

The main disadvantage of the .mark format is that it is entirely closed and proprietary. Furthermore, these files do not contain the actual document you were reading (such as the base PDF or EPUB). Instead, they strictly contain vector coordinates, timestamps, and pen pressure data. Without the original document and the Supernote rendering engine, the raw .mark file is useless. This makes sharing your notes with non-Supernote users impossible without an export step.

To share your annotations, you must export them to standard, universally readable formats like PDF or PNG. Doing so flattens the vector strokes directly onto the pages of the source document.

Because this file format is essentially an isolated layer of vector data, standard online converters fail to process it. Only the original Supernote ecosystem can properly read and overlay the data. However, just drag and drop your file to identify the format, view it, and convert it when possible using convert.guru. Our tool can inspect the internal data structure to see if any readable text or supported embedded metadata can be extracted.

Convert.Guru analyzes your MARK file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.

Users also converted MRC, XML, REPP, APPLE and PEK files.

The MARK Converter Story

The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our MARK converter.
