Convert RBZ to another file type
To convert your RBZ file to another format, you need SketchUp or other Plugin software.
Convert a file to RBZ
To convert other file formats to the "SketchUp Extension Package" file type, you need software like SketchUp or a similar tool.
About RBZ files
An .RBZ file is technically just a standard ZIP compressed archive renamed to function as a plugin package for SketchUp. These files contain Ruby scripts (source .rb files), texture assets, and metadata required to extend SketchUp's 3D modeling capabilities.
The key problem with .RBZ files is their opacity; because the extension is proprietary to the Trimble ecosystem, double-clicking them on a standard OS often results in an "unknown application" error or attempts to launch SketchUp without actually installing the tool. Furthermore, developers or curious users cannot easily inspect the code or modify the assets without jumping through hoops to rename the file extension manually.
For most users, the most practical conversion is to ZIP. This allows you to open the package with any standard utility (like WinZip or 7-Zip) to inspect the contents. If you are a developer looking to audit or edit the code, you will find RB files inside, which can be treated as standard text files; converting the archive to ZIP is the requisite first step to accessing them.
Convert.Guru analyzes your RBZ file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
If you want to convert RBZ file to DLL, SO, DYLIB, BUNDLE, PLUGIN, XPI, CRX, SAFARIEXTZ, APPEX, KEXT, SYS or DRV, you can use SketchUp or similar software from the "SketchUp Plugin Installation" category. In the File menu, look for Save As… or Export….
To convert LV2, DYLIB, VST, AAX, DRV, TDE, LADSPA, BUNDLE, AU, DLL, RTAS or SO files to RBZ, try SketchUp or another comparable tool in the "SketchUp Plugin Installation" category.
The RBZ Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our RBZ converter.
