To convert other file formats to the "Multi-volume Archive" file type, you need software like WinRAR or a similar tool.
About R00 files
A .R00 file functions as the initial volume of a multi-part compressed archive created by WinRAR. These files are generated when a large dataset is split into smaller, manageable chunks (followed by R01, R02, etc.) to bypass email attachment limits or storage restrictions. While efficient for transfer, the .R00 format presents significant friction: you strictly require every subsequent volume in the sequence to extract any data, and if a single part is missing or corrupted, the entire archive becomes inaccessible. Furthermore, the format is proprietary to the RAR algorithm, meaning standard operating system tools often cannot open it without third-party software.
Convert.Guru analyzes your R00 file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
If you want to convert R00 file to ZIP, RAR, 7Z, TAR, GZ, BZ2, XZ, LZMA, CAB, ACE, ARJ or LHA, you can use WinRAR or similar software from the "Split Archive Volume" category. In the File menu, look for Save As… or Export….
To convert XXE, 7Z, Z, PAK, LHA, DEB, UUE, TAR, LZH, ZIP, PKG or RAR files to R00, try WinRAR or another comparable tool in the "Split Archive Volume" category.
The R00 Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our R00 converter.
