About R02 files
The .R02 file is a split archive volume created by WinRAR. It serves as a sequence piece (usually the third part, after RAR, R00, and R01) of a multi-volume RAR archive. Users rely on split archives to divide massive files into smaller chunks to bypass rigid email attachment limits or FAT32 file system constraints on older external drives. A rare secondary use for .R02 is as an encrypted Holter ECG recording data file for NorthEast Monitoring REMEDY systems, sometimes managed via OpenText. To open or extract an .R02 file, you need the complete set of split volumes located in the exact same directory. Missing a single piece renders the entire archive completely useless. The primary disadvantage of the .R02 format is its lack of native operating system support. While Windows and macOS handle ZIP natively, they cannot read split RAR files without third-party utilities like WinRAR or 7-Zip.
