About QZ files

The .QZ file is primarily used as an XML-based quiz container encoded in UTF-16 (LE) by e-learning software like Question Writer and QuizCreator. Alternatively, it serves as a compressed data file generated by the QuickLZ qpress utility or QuickZip, which relies on GZIP algorithms. It is also occasionally seen as a diagnostic log snapshot for Progress WhatsUp Gold. The major disadvantage of .QZ quiz files is their closed, proprietary nature. They are locked to specific educational platforms, requiring specialized, often expensive software to open, and they cannot be natively viewed in standard web browsers. Compressed .QZ files present similar frustrations because native operating systems (like Windows or macOS) do not support the extraction of qpress archives out-of-the-box. When managing quiz data, converting a .QZ file to XML, CSV, or TXT is highly recommended to extract the raw question banks for use in standard LMS systems like Moodle, though interactive media elements will be lost. For the compressed variants, converting to standard ZIP or 7Z ensures universal accessibility. Standard online converters almost always fail to process .QZ files because the extension shares multiple conflicting binary and text-based structures.

Convert.Guru analyzes your QZ file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.

Users also converted PDF, VTK, PHO and G1M files.
