Convert QPR to another file type
To convert your QPR file to another format, you need Visual FoxPro or other Developer software.
Convert a file to QPR
To convert other file formats to the "Query Script" file type, you need software like Visual FoxPro or a similar tool.
About QPR files
The .qpr file extension is a 'collision' format used by three distinct industries, creating significant confusion for users trying to open one. Most commonly, it is a Visual FoxPro Generated Query Program, a legacy text-based file containing SQL commands used to query databases. These files are technically plain text but often locked behind the discontinued Visual FoxPro interface.
Alternatively, in enterprise environments, a .qpr file is a QPR ProcessDesigner Model created by QPR Software. These are proprietary binary files containing complex business process diagrams, flowcharts, and organizational models. Users without a paid QPR license cannot view these diagrams, creating a need to convert them to PDF or JPG for sharing.
Finally, in engineering sectors, .qpr serves as a project file for QBlade, an open-source wind turbine simulation tool. These contain binary simulation data and cannot be opened by any other software.
Common Friction Points:
Legacy Lock-in: FoxPro files are often decades old, and the software to run them no longer exists on modern Windows.
License Costs: QPR ProcessDesigner is high-end enterprise software; casually viewing a model requires requesting an export from the author.
Text vs. Binary: Users often try to open binary QPR/QBlade files in Notepad, resulting in garbled code, whereas FoxPro files open perfectly in text editors.
Best Conversion Targets:
For FoxPro: Convert to TXT or SQL to recover the logic and use it in modern SQL databases.
For QPR Models: Convert to PDF or PNG to share process maps with non-technical stakeholders.
For QBlade: Export results to CSV or reports to PDF for engineering documentation.
Convert.Guru analyzes your QPR file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
If you want to convert QPR file to JS, TS, PY, JAVA, CPP, C, CS, PHP, RB, GO, RS or SWIFT, you can use Visual FoxPro or similar software from the "Database Query / Process Model" category. In the File menu, look for Save As… or Export….
To convert SH, PY, KT, PS1, SWIFT, LUA, PL, JAVA, SCALA, JS, VBS or TS files to QPR, try Visual FoxPro or another comparable tool in the "Database Query / Process Model" category.
The QPR Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our QPR converter.
