About HPRJ files
The .HPRJ file extension primarily belongs to Zoom Handy Recorders (like the H5, H6, and H8). It functions as an audio recorder project file that stores metadata, track settings, and project markers. Crucially, it does not contain actual audio data. Audio is stored separately in WAV or MP3 formats alongside the .HPRJ file. A secondary use is for proDAD Heroglyph, a video titling software, which saves animation project data under the same extension. The biggest disadvantage of a Zoom .HPRJ file is its strict proprietary nature. It cannot be opened by standard text editors or media players, and requires the original Zoom hardware or companion software to read correctly. Users frequently try to convert these files expecting to extract audio, which is physically impossible since the file only holds device configuration data. For the proDAD variant, you are entirely locked into a paid software ecosystem to render titles into standard video formats like MP4 or AVI. Because these are closed, proprietary settings files, standard online converters fail to process them. You cannot directly convert a Zoom .HPRJ file to standard audio. If our analysis detects a supported underlying or embedded format, viewing or conversion may still be possible.
Convert.Guru analyzes your HPRJ file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.

The HPRJ Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our HPRJ converter.
