Convert QDF to another file type
To convert QDF data files to another format, you need Quicken or other Data software.
Convert a file to QDF
To convert other file formats to the "Database or Form File" file type, you need software like Quicken or a similar tool.
About QDF files
A .QDF file primarily functions as either a financial data database for Quicken or an electronic form data file for Snapform Viewer, heavily used for Swiss tax forms. Secondary uses include barcode label designs in Teklynx Label Matrix and user-defined layouts in SAP Business One. The main disadvantage of .QDF files is their highly proprietary nature. Quicken files are locked behind paid software subscriptions, rely on an undocumented Microsoft Compound structure, and require auxiliary files like QEL or QSD to function correctly. Snapform files are specialized regional tools, frustrating users who need a standard document format. Users typically need to convert .QDF to standard formats like CSV, XML, or PDF to migrate accounting data to new software or to archive tax forms permanently without keeping legacy applications installed. Because these are closed formats, traditional online converters almost always fail to process them properly. You usually must use the original software to export the data. However, drag and drop your file into convert.guru to identify its exact internal structure. We can inspect the file, detect if it is an underlying compressed archive, XML, or a Microsoft Compound object, and extract readable text or embedded content when possible.
Convert.Guru analyzes your QDF file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
If you want to convert QDF file to PDF, QIF, CSV, QFX, QBW, JSON, XML, YAML, YML, TOML, INI or CFG, you can use Quicken or similar software from the "Financial Data & Forms" category. In the File menu, look for Save As… or Export….
To convert DBF, XML, SQLITE, XLSX, SQL, TSV, ACCDB, YAML, MDB, CSV, ODS or JSON files to QDF, try Quicken or another comparable tool in the "Financial Data & Forms" category.
The QDF Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our QDF converter.
