Convert QEL to another file type
To convert your QEL file to another format, you need Quicken or other Data software.
Convert a file to QEL
To convert other file formats to the "Financial Data Library" file type, you need software like Quicken or a similar tool.
About QEL files
A .QEL file is a proprietary Quicken Electronic Library file, functioning as a vital sidecar to the primary QDF data file. These files serve as a database cache, storing downloaded online banking transaction headers and synchronization data for Quicken financial software.
Users commonly struggle with issues with .QEL files because they are not standalone documents; you cannot simply double-click to view them, nor can you upload them to a generic converter to extract a spreadsheet. They are strictly binary support files that Quicken references to keep your account history in sync with bank servers. Because they rely on the main dataset to function, attempting to open a .QEL without the corresponding QDF file usually results in errors.
To "convert" the data inside, the only reliable workflow is to place the .QEL in the same folder as your QDF, open the project in Quicken, and use the software's built-in export tools. For archiving or sharing, exporting to PDF is standard. For data manipulation or migration to other tools (like Microsoft Excel or GNUCash), you should export the project to QIF (Quicken Interchange Format) or CSV.
Convert.Guru analyzes your QEL file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
If you want to convert QEL file to XLS, XLSX, XLSM, XLSB, ODS, CSV, TSV, TAB, DIF, SLK, WK1 or WK3, you can use Quicken or similar software from the "Financial Data Cache" category. In the File menu, look for Save As… or Export….
To convert WQ1, XLSM, NOTES, QPW, WK3, WB2, WKS, XLSB, 123, XLS, WB1 or XLSX files to QEL, try Quicken or another comparable tool in the "Financial Data Cache" category.
The QEL Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our QEL converter.
