Convert QDT to another file type
To convert QDT files to another format, you need Quicken or other Raster Image software.
Convert a file to QDT
To convert other file formats to the "Quantized Bitmap Image" file type, you need software like Quicken or a similar tool.
About QDT files
The .QDT file extension primarily represents either a quantized bitmap image compressed by the open-source QccPack library or a legacy financial data file created by older versions of Quicken (specifically versions 3 and 4) by Intuit. A rarer use case involves Quantized Difference Tones associated with the vintage Quantel Paintbox broadcast graphics system.
The main disadvantage of the .QDT format is its severe obsolescence. Quicken data files from older versions are proprietary databases that cannot be opened directly by modern financial software without a multi-step migration process. Similarly, QccPack quantized bitmaps rely on highly specific mathematical compression algorithms that are completely unsupported by modern web browsers, standard image viewers, and operating systems.
Converting a .QDT file depends on its origin. Financial data should be migrated to the modern QDF format using legacy software, or exported as a universally readable CSV file. For image data, converting the extracted bitmap to standard formats like PNG or JPG is necessary to restore accessibility and allow viewing on modern devices.
Because .QDT formats are either proprietary closed databases or highly niche image algorithms, standard online converters universally fail to process them. Often, only the original software can properly read or export the data. However, you can drag and drop your .QDT file into convert.guru to identify its true format, inspect the underlying hex data, and extract readable text. If our analysis detects a supported embedded image stream or unencrypted data structure, viewing or conversion may still be possible.
Convert.Guru analyzes your QDT file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
If you want to convert QDT file to XLS, XLSX, XLSM, XLSB, ODS, CSV, TSV, TAB, DIF, SLK, WK1 or WK3, you can use Quicken or similar software from the "Legacy Image & Data Storage" category. In the File menu, look for Save As… or Export….
To convert WQ1, XLSM, NOTES, QPW, WK3, WB2, WKS, XLSB, 123, XLS, WB1 or XLSX files to QDT, try Quicken or another comparable tool in the "Legacy Image & Data Storage" category.
The QDT Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our QDT converter.
