The .PX file extension most frequently represents a PC-Axis Statistical Data file, a standard format used by government agencies and international organizations (such as Statistics Sweden and the Swiss Federal Statistical Office) to disseminate multidimensional statistical tables. These files contain metadata (axis definitions, units, sources) followed by raw data, allowing for rich representation of census or economic data.
While powerful for statisticians, .PX files present significant hurdles for general users: they are not natively supported by standard spreadsheet tools like Microsoft Excel or modern BI platforms like Tableau without specific plugins.
