Convert PVC to another file type
To convert PVC project files to another format, you need PVcase or other Data software.
Convert a file to PVC
To convert other file formats to the "Scientific & Solar Project File" file type, you need software like PVcase or a similar tool.
About PVC files
A .pvc file is a multi-purpose extension most frequently used for Spectrophotometer measurement data or Photovoltaic solar design projects. In laboratory settings, optical instruments from Biochrom and Implen use this format to store spectral readings. In the renewable energy sector, software like PVcase, PV*SOL, and RatedPower use .pvc files to save 3D plant models, scene exports, and solar array configurations. Additionally, .pvc acts as a compiled business program object in Sage 100 ERP.
This format poses major challenges for users because it is highly fragmented. A solar engineer cannot open a laboratory .pvc file, and a scientist cannot read a solar layout. The files are often proprietary, locked behind expensive industry subscriptions, and completely unsupported by web browsers or generic document readers. Sharing a PVcase 3D design or a Biochrom dataset with external clients usually requires the original software, causing massive friction for users without a license.
To make the data accessible, laboratory .pvc files must be exported to CSV or XLSX for use in Microsoft Excel. Solar design files are often XML-based or Microsoft Compound files internally, and should ideally be converted to DXF or XML to preserve 3D geometry and site metadata. Because these formats are closed and proprietary, standard online converters fail to process them. They do not know which version of the file they are looking at.
Just drag and drop your .pvc file into convert.guru to identify its true format, view its internal text structure, and convert it when possible. Even if the file is a compiled binary object, our tool will inspect the headers and extract any readable underlying data to help you figure out what you are dealing with.
Use Convert.Guru to open and convert your PVC file.
If you want to convert PVC file to PEX, CPVC, EMT, ABS, MP3, WAV, AAC, FLAC, OGG, WMA, M4A or AIFF, you can use PVcase or similar software from the "Data and 3D Storage" category. In the File menu, look for Save As… or Export….
To convert MIDI, AAC, TTA, AU, WV, DTS, MID, FLAC, RA, MP3, PCM or WAV files to PVC, try PVcase or another comparable tool in the "Data and 3D Storage" category.
The PVC Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our PVC converter.
