About PSPIMAGE files
A .PSPIMAGE file is the native layered project format used by Corel PaintShop Pro (formerly Jasc). Unlike standard images, it acts as a container for the entire editing workspace, storing raster layers, vector paths, guides, transparency, and metadata in a single file.
While powerful for editing, .PSPIMAGE files present significant compatibility hurdles. They are proprietary, meaning they cannot be opened by web browsers, mobile devices, or standard viewers like Windows Photos. Furthermore, they are essentially 'locked' to the PaintShop Pro ecosystem; Adobe Photoshop cannot open them natively without third-party plugins, often forcing designers to flatten their work.
To share or use these images, conversion is essential. For web publishing or quick sharing, convert to JPG or WebP to reduce file size and ensure compatibility. For cross-platform editing (moving to Adobe workflows), convert to PSD, though some specific vector attributes may be rasterized. For high-quality printing or archiving without proprietary lock-in, TIFF or PDF are the recommended targets.

The PSPIMAGE Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our PSPIMAGE converter.
