To convert other file formats to the "Specialized Data Package" file type, you need software like Siemens Xpedition PartQuest or a similar tool.
About PQZ files
The .PQZ file extension primarily represents three distinct, specialized file formats: a power quality monitoring data file used by Power Quality Data Analyzer (PQDA), a legacy compressed drive image backup from PowerQuest, or a PQZip electronic component data package for Siemens Xpedition PartQuest. Because these formats are highly divergent and mostly proprietary, generic online converters fail to process them. The PowerQuest format is an extremely old backup standard, and the software was discontinued shortly after Symantec acquired the company in 2003. Attempting to convert these drive images to modern formats like ISO or VHD without mounting them in a legacy environment is practically impossible. Similarly, the PQDA file requires specific utility software to read localized electrical grid metrics, making it a heavily locked-down format. However, the Siemens PQZip file is internally a standard ZIP archive containing Electronic Design Automation (EDA) parts. Users often struggle with .PQZ files because the original software is either expensive, highly niche, or completely obsolete. Despite these massive disadvantages, convert.guru offers a practical workaround. Just drag and drop your file to see what it is and convert it if supported. Our tool inspects the binary headers to determine exactly which of the three types you possess. If our analysis detects the standard ZIP structure common with Siemens PartQuest files, we can extract and show the internal text, XML, or CAD contents, allowing you to salvage the data without needing an active Xpedition license.
Convert.Guru analyzes your PQZ file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
If you want to convert PQZ file to TMP, TEMP, CACHE, LOG, BAK, OLD, NEW, PART, DOWNLOAD, CRDOWNLOAD, LOCK or PID, you can use Siemens Xpedition PartQuest or similar software from the "Specialized Data Archival" category. In the File menu, look for Save As… or Export….
To convert DEVICE, CACHE, SOCK, SYMLINK, PID, MOUNT, FIFO, LOG, PIPE, TMP, JUNCTION or TEMP files to PQZ, try Siemens Xpedition PartQuest or another comparable tool in the "Specialized Data Archival" category.
The PQZ Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our PQZ converter.
