About PLD files
The .PLD file extension is a highly fragmented format most commonly used as a label design document by PosteK LabelShop or as a player data file in Warcraft III. It is also utilized by UPS for Package Level Detail shipping databases, PhotoLine for layered image documents, and WinCUPL for programmable logic device source code.
The massive disadvantage of the .PLD format is its lack of standardization. Because the extension is shared by over a dozen entirely unrelated programs - from John Deere engine calibrations to Pandora car alarms - your operating system will frequently fail to open it. Without the original authoring software, a .PLD file is a black box. Proprietary label designs cannot be shared with commercial printers, and encrypted game data cannot be edited directly.
To overcome these software lock-ins, you must convert the file. For label designs and images, convert .PLD to PDF or PNG for universal viewing and printing. For UPS shipping data or WinCUPL logic scripts, convert to CSV or TXT to safely parse the raw text.
