About PARTIAL files
A .partial file is a temporary container used to store data during an active or interrupted file download. Web browsers like Mozilla Firefox and cloud services such as the Naver Cloud Platform automatically append this extension to files while data is actively transferring. Once the download finishes, the browser strips the .partial extension, revealing the true format. The primary disadvantage of a .partial file is that it is fundamentally broken and incomplete. Critical structural data, such as the closing index of an MP4 video or the cross-reference table of a PDF, is typically written at the very end of a download. Without this data, standard software and traditional online converters will throw an error and fail to open the file. You cannot reliably convert a file that is missing half of its bytes. The pragmatic solution is to resume the download in your browser. If that is impossible, you can try manually renaming the file to its intended extension, like ZIP or JPG, to see if tools like WinRAR can salvage the downloaded fragments. Because .partial files are just raw, chopped-off data streams, they are notoriously difficult to process. Our analyzer will inspect the file header, confirm if the internal structure resembles a known format, and attempt to extract any readable text or media fragments.
Convert.Guru analyzes your PARTIAL file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.

The PARTIAL Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our PARTIAL converter.
