Convert PAR to another file type
To convert PAR parts and archives to another format, you need Solid Edge or other 3D software.
Convert a file to PAR
To convert other file formats to the "Solid Edge Part Model" file type, you need software like Solid Edge or a similar tool.
About PAR files
The .PAR file extension is primarily used as a Solid Edge Part file, a proprietary 3D CAD model format developed by Siemens. These files store complex 3D part geometry using an internal Microsoft Compound structure. The extension is highly fragmented and is also frequently used as a compressed game data archive by Sega (for the Yakuza/Judgment series) and as an export package for the Oracle Integration Cloud.
Dealing with .PAR files is often frustrating because of this fragmentation. Solid Edge .PAR files are proprietary and heavy. They require expensive, specialized CAD software to view and cannot be natively opened by web browsers, standard document viewers, or competing CAD systems like SolidWorks or AutoCAD. If you receive a Sega game .PAR archive, standard extraction tools like WinRAR will fail, forcing you to use dedicated modding scripts.
To make these files usable, conversion is necessary. For 3D engineering, convert Solid Edge .PAR files to STEP or IGES for universal CAD compatibility, or to STL for 3D printing. If you are handling an Oracle Integration .PAR file, simply rename the extension to ZIP to access its internal XML data. If you want to convert PAR file to LUX, DLI, STEP, MP4, STL, PDF, OBJ, FBX, DAE, 3DS, MAX or BLEND, you can use Solid Edge or similar software from the "3D Part Modeling Storage" category. In the File menu, look for Save As… or Export….
To convert DWG, DAE, X3D, IGES, WRL, JT, SKP, 3DS, 3DM, OBJ, STEP or FBX files to PAR, try Solid Edge or another comparable tool in the "3D Part Modeling Storage" category.
The PAR Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our PAR converter.
