About NZB files
The .NZB file is an XML-based index document used to download multipart binary files from Usenet servers. Originally created by the Newzbin indexing service, it functions similarly to a TORRENT file but is specific to Usenet newsgroups. To open and download the referenced contents, you need a specialized Usenet client like SABnzbd or NZBGet, alongside a paid Usenet access subscription. The main disadvantage of the .NZB format is that it contains no actual media or binary data. It only holds text-based Message-IDs pointing to server locations. This often confuses users who expect a playable video or audio file. Furthermore, Usenet providers often enforce retention limits, meaning older .NZB files point to dead links. If you need to extract the raw metadata, Message-IDs, or file names contained inside, you must parse the XML structure. For developer integration, convert to JSON. For simple reading, convert to TXT or standard XML.
Convert.Guru analyzes your NZB file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
If you want to convert NZB file to MP4, HTML, HTM, CSS, JS, PHP, ASP, ASPX, JSP, JSPX, PY or RB, you can use SABnzbd or similar software from the "Usenet Binary Download Index" category. In the File menu, look for Save As… or Export….

The NZB Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our NZB converter.
