The .NPP file extension generally refers to a proprietary project file created by one of two distinct applications: Art Explosion Publisher Pro by Nova Development or Express Points Presentation Software by NCH Software.
If your file is from Art Explosion Publisher Pro, it is a desktop publishing project containing layouts, vector graphics, and text. The significant constraint with this format is that it acts as a working blueprint rather than a shareable document. You cannot simply email an .NPP file to a print shop or a client and expect them to view it without the original software installed. For archiving or printing, these files must be converted to PDF (for documents) or high-resolution TIFF/JPG (for image assets).
Alternatively, if the file was created in Express Points, it serves as a presentation project similar to a PPTX file but locked within the NCH ecosystem. These files store slide transitions, audio, and multimedia references. A common friction point arises when users attempt to play the presentation on a computer lacking Express Points; the file will not open. To ensure compatibility with standard office suites like Microsoft PowerPoint, the most practical workflow is converting these projects to PPTX or exporting them as a standard MP4 video file for universal playback.
