About NPA files

A .NPA file is most frequently an NScripter Game Archive, a proprietary container format used by the NScripter engine for visual novels like Steins;Gate and Narcissu. These files act as locked vaults storing game assets - character sprites, background art, voice lines, and background music - compressed into a single block to prevent casual tampering.

The frustrating part for users is that .NPA files are not standard folders; you cannot open them with Windows Explorer or macOS Finder. To access the content, you typically need specialized extraction tools like GARbro or ArcUnpacker, which can reverse-engineer the container.
