The main disadvantage of the .nlf format is its strictly proprietary, closed nature. The Xerox .nlf file is an encrypted Java archive wrapped in a ZIP container. This means you cannot simply double-click the file to run it on a standard computer. If you try to open it in a basic text editor, you will only see garbled, encoded characters. The Nintex license file is similarly restricted, utilizing hashed strings to prevent unauthorized tampering or copying.
