About NGP files

The .NGP extension typically serves two very different masters: retro gaming enthusiasts and structural engineers. Most commonly, an .NGP file is a ROM image derived from the Neo Geo Pocket, a handheld console released by SNK in 1998. These files are bit-perfect copies of the original game cartridges, preserving the game code, graphics, and audio. However, because they are binary dumps, they are completely unreadable by standard media players or text editors. To "play" (convert) them into a usable state, you must use emulation software like RetroArch or Mednafen, or convert them to ZIP archives for better storage efficiency.

In a professional context, .NGP files function as structural analysis result diagrams created by Dlubal Software, specifically within suites like RFEM or RSTAB. These files encapsulate complex finite element analysis data, load cases, and structural behaviors. The friction here is high: these files are strictly proprietary. You cannot open them in AutoCAD or Excel. Users often need to convert these results into PDF reports for documentation or DXF files for further CAD integration, a process that generally requires the original licensed Dlubal environment to execute the export.

Less frequently, .NGP may refer to asset files for Animaytor animation software or secure digital signature files used by BankID. In all cases, the format is a specialized container that resists direct editing without the native parent software.

Convert.Guru analyzes your NGP file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.

Users also converted ZIP, BIN, INKML, UCD and TECH files.

The NGP Converter Story

The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our NGP converter.
