To convert NDC Configurations to another format, you need Nero DiscSpeed or other Data software.
To convert other file formats to the "Software Specific Data" file type, you need software like Nero DiscSpeed or a similar tool.
.NDC files are primarily used as Disc Speed Test Results generated by Nero DiscSpeed, or as Personal Communications Settings Files for IBM mainframe software. They store either optical drive benchmark data (like read/write transfer rates) or terminal emulation configurations.
To view or manipulate these files natively, users rely on Nero DiscSpeed for optical media benchmarks and IBM Personal Communications for enterprise terminal networking.
Users often need to convert these files because the .NDC format is highly proprietary and closed. It cannot be opened natively by web browsers, email clients, or standard office suites like Microsoft Word. Sharing an .NDC file usually results in an error for the recipient unless they have the exact software installed. The Nero version often contains binary graph data that is completely unreadable without the native engine.
The best conversion targets for sharing are CSV for tabular benchmark data, PDF for static visual graphs, or TXT for reading IBM configuration settings. Converting to these formats makes the data universally accessible, though interactive features and direct software integration will be lost.
