Convert MQO to another file type
To convert MQO 3D models to another format, you need Metasequoia or other 3D software.
Convert a file to MQO
To convert other file formats to the "3D Model File" file type, you need software like Metasequoia or a similar tool.
About MQO files
The .mqo file is a 3D model document created by Metasequoia, a polygon modeling software popular in the anime and indie game development communities. These files store 3D geometry, textures, UV mapping, and material data. Users typically open them using Metasequoia, or by importing them into Blender via community-developed plugins. However, .mqo is a proprietary format with significant disadvantages. It is not supported by standard web browsers, requires specialized software to open, and limits collaboration with users on industry-standard tools like Autodesk Maya or Unity. To use these models in game engines or standard 3D pipelines, you must convert the .mqo file. The best target formats are OBJ for static meshes, FBX to retain complex material relationships, or STL for 3D printing. Note that proprietary shader setups or specific Metasequoia modifiers may be lost during export. Because this format is closed, standard online converters often fail to process it. Usually, only the original Metasequoia software can properly read or export the 3D data. If our analysis detects a supported underlying or embedded format, viewing or conversion may still be possible.
Convert.Guru analyzes your MQO file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
If you want to convert MQO file to OBJ, FBX, DAE, 3DS, MAX, BLEND, MA, MB, C4D, STL, PLY or WRL, you can use Metasequoia or similar software from the "3D Polygon Modeling Storage" category. In the File menu, look for Save As… or Export….
To convert DWG, DAE, X3D, IGES, WRL, JT, SKP, 3DS, 3DM, OBJ, STEP or FBX files to MQO, try Metasequoia or another comparable tool in the "3D Polygon Modeling Storage" category.
The MQO Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our MQO converter.
