The .MOS extension represents a frustratingly ambiguous filename that could be one of three very different things: a high-fidelity Leaf Camera RAW image, a FICO Xpress Mosel optimization model, or an Ericsson network management script.
If you are a photographer or archivist, you likely have a raw image from a legacy Leaf (now Phase One) digital camera back (e.g., Leaf Valeo or Aptus series). These files contain uncompressed sensor data and are often based on the TIFF structure but lack broad compatibility. They are huge, proprietary, and generally require specialized software like Capture One or Adobe Lightroom to open. You cannot upload them directly to social media or view them in standard web browsers.
Alternatively, in enterprise and telecom environments, a .MOS file is often a plain text script. It could be a Mosel model used by FICO Xpress Optimization for mathematical solving, or a Managed Object Shell script used to configure Ericsson radio networks. While these are technically human-readable text files, their obscure extension confuses operating systems, preventing you from double-clicking to open them.
