Convert a file to RMR
To convert other file formats to the "Resume Document File" file type, you need software like ResumeMaker or a similar tool.
About RMR files
The .RMR file format is a proprietary resume document created by ResumeMaker, a specialized career-building software suite developed by Individual Software. It stores resume content, formatting preferences, contact details, and career history structured exclusively for the ResumeMaker template environment. Historically, some versions of the file were also associated with Axcis Resume Manager.
The main disadvantage of the .RMR format is its severe proprietary lock-in. You cannot open these files in standard word processors like Microsoft Word, nor can you view them in web browsers. Sending an .RMR file directly to a recruiter or Applicant Tracking System (ATS) is a critical mistake, as they will be entirely unable to read it without purchasing the specific Windows-based software.
To share your resume, you must convert .RMR files to universal formats like PDF (which strictly preserves your layout) or DOCX (which allows for future editing). However, this file format is notoriously difficult to open or convert externally. Because it is a closed, proprietary file, standard online converters usually fail to process the layout geometry. Often, only the original ResumeMaker software can properly read or export the structured data.
Despite these limitations, convert.guru can still identify the file format, inspect the file, and show text or internal content. Just drag and drop your .RMR file into our tool to see what it is and convert it if supported. If our analysis detects an underlying text stream, viewing or basic text extraction may still be possible, rescuing your career history even without the original program.
Convert.Guru analyzes your RMR file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
If you want to convert RMR file to GSI, Q, INDD, QXP, PUB, PMD, PM6, PM7, PM8, PM9, PM10 or PM11, you can use ResumeMaker or similar software from the "Resume Document Storage" category. In the File menu, look for Save As… or Export….
To convert MDI, PUB, PDP, PM4, P65, COMIC, WEBTEMPLATE, PMD, SPUB, INDD, PM5 or QXP files to RMR, try ResumeMaker or another comparable tool in the "Resume Document Storage" category.
The RMR Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our RMR converter.
