About MOI files

A .MOI file is a Video Information Index file created by digital camcorders from JVC, Panasonic, and Canon. It is generated alongside a MOD video file to store metadata such as the recording date, duration, and the aspect ratio flag (16:9 or 4:3). Users often attempt to convert .MOI files into video formats, but this is a mistake. The .MOI format is strictly a proprietary metadata container and contains zero video data. Its biggest disadvantage is that it is completely useless on its own and requires proprietary bundled software to be read properly. Standard media players ignore it entirely. To view or edit your footage, you must locate the matching MOD file on your camcorder storage. For web use and modern playback, convert the MOD file to MP4. For archiving, you can simply rename the MOD extension to MPG.

Convert.Guru analyzes your MOI file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.

Users also converted MOD, PGI, MGR_DATA, PRG_MGR, SB1, MPG, XSL, MOBI, JPG, MOV, DAT, ZIP and SAV files.
