About MOFF files
The .MOFF file is a proprietary metadata index used by Sony digital cameras, camcorders, and software like PlayMemories Home.
A major frustration for users is that a .MOFF file is not a video. It is a tiny "sidecar" file that only stores management data such as GPS coordinates, timecodes, and highlight markers. Because it lacks actual media streams, it cannot be opened as a movie. It is proprietary and becomes completely useless if separated from the original MP4 or MTS video file.
You cannot convert a .MOFF to a playable video format. If you attempt this, the conversion will fail because there is no video data to encode. However, for archival or debugging purposes, you can extract its raw data. Convert it to TXT or XML to view the metadata strings.
