About MMT files
The .MMT file extension is a highly fragmented format primarily utilized as an internal image container by the Meitu photo editor, or as a GPS tracking export from MapMyTracks. It is also actively used in enterprise environments, serving as insurance tariff model macros for UnipolSai UMT, river measurement projects in Teledyne WinRiver, or motion mapping templates for the Valve Source Engine.
The massive disadvantage of the .MMT format is its ambiguity. Because unrelated software vendors arbitrarily chose the same extension, file association conflicts on Windows and macOS are practically guaranteed. Without the original software installed, your operating system will fail to open it. Worse, depending on the origin, an .MMT file could be an uncompressed image, a proprietary text macro, a compressed archive, or even an executable module. This lack of standardization makes the format incredibly difficult to manage, share, or archive over the long term.
Converting your .MMT file to an open standard is the only practical workaround. The ideal target depends entirely on the file's origin: image-based files should become PNG, text macros should convert to RTF or DOCX, and GPS data is best migrated to GPX or XML.
Standard online converters usually crash when processing these files because they expect a uniform structure. Our processing engine bypasses the confusing extension and inspects the raw file headers. If your .MMT is secretly a disguised PNG, RTF, XML, or ZIP archive, we can often extract the internal content, allowing you to salvage the data without buying expensive or obsolete software.
Convert.Guru analyzes your MMT file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.

The MMT Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our MMT converter.
