About IVC files
The .IVC file format is primarily used as an iView MediaPro Catalog file. It operates as a database to store metadata, descriptive tags, and low-resolution thumbnail previews for large collections of digital photos and videos. Secondary uses for the .IVC extension include IVS Solutions laser marking job files, Sega Project DIVA game video files, and Pasan Solar Simulator I-V curve data files.
The main disadvantage of the .IVC media catalog format is that it is strictly proprietary and obsolete. Because iView MediaPro (later rebranded as Microsoft Expression Media and then Phase One Media Pro) is officially discontinued, users struggle to open these legacy catalogs. A critical limitation is that the .IVC file does not contain the actual high-resolution images. It only holds organizational file paths and text metadata.
Users typically need to convert these files to CSV or XML to migrate their historical image tagging data to modern Digital Asset Management (DAM) systems like Adobe Lightroom. Because this is a closed, undocumented format, standard online converters fail to process it. Often, only the original legacy software can properly read or export the structured data. If our analysis detects supported underlying text, XML data, or embedded thumbnails, viewing or partial data extraction may still be possible.
Convert.Guru analyzes your IVC file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
If you want to convert IVC file to MP3, WAV, AAC, FLAC, OGG, WMA, M4A, AIFF, OPUS, ALAC, APE or WV, you can use iView MediaPro or similar software from the "Media Asset Catalog Database" category. In the File menu, look for Save As… or Export….
To convert MIDI, AAC, TTA, AU, WV, DTS, MID, FLAC, RA, MP3, PCM or WAV files to IVC, try iView MediaPro or another comparable tool in the "Media Asset Catalog Database" category.
The IVC Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our IVC converter.
