About MGA files

The .MGA file extension typically represents a legacy Magic Bullet Look file used in professional video post-production. Originally developed for Red Giant Magic Bullet Suite (now owned by Maxon), these files function as proprietary 3D Look-Up Tables (LUTs) to define color grading presets. The catch for editors is compatibility; modern Non-Linear Editors (NLEs) like DaVinci Resolve and Adobe Premiere Pro standardize on CUBE or 3DL formats. Native .MGA files often behave as proprietary "black boxes" that cannot be imported directly into newer workflows without the specific legacy plugin version installed.

Alternatively, an .MGA file may be an Art Department Professional (ADPro) graphics file, a raster image format from the Commodore Amiga era. These files are functionally obsolete on modern operating systems like Windows or macOS, requiring specialized emulation or conversion tools to view.
