About MCP files
An .MCP file is typically an engineering project file or an Integrated Development Environment (IDE) configuration file. The most common uses include Human-Machine Interface (HMI) touch screen projects for MCGS Pro, project files for Metrowerks CodeWarrior (now NXP), and Microchip MPLAB IDE projects. Siemens also uses the extension for SIMATIC WinCC flexible projects. Users often need to convert or extract data from these files to share UI layouts, code references, or build configurations with team members who lack the expensive software. However, the .MCP format is heavily proprietary and locked to the specific software version that created it. It does not store standard media. Instead, many .MCP files are structured internally as Microsoft Compound files, JetDB databases, or ZIP archives containing hundreds of linked assets and configuration scripts. This makes standard online conversion tools useless, as they cannot parse the proprietary logic. You cannot simply convert an HMI project to a PDF or JPG directly without losing the interactive components. The best workaround is to export the project from within the original IDE to XML, C header files, or plain text reports. Because this file format is difficult to open or convert, often only the original software can properly read or export the data. If our analysis detects a supported underlying or embedded format, viewing or extraction of the internal contents may still be possible.
