About MC2 files

The .mc2 file extension is primarily a MasterCook Cookbook database file used by MasterCook. These files store collections of recipes, including ingredients, instructions, and nutritional data. A secondary, highly specific use for .mc2 files is as a PlayStation 2 save icon, which represents 3D game save data on physical memory cards.

MasterCook .mc2 files are proprietary database containers. This means you cannot easily open them outside of the MasterCook software ecosystem. Users often need to convert these files to TXT, CSV, or XML to share recipes with non-MasterCook users, migrate to modern recipe managers, or view them on mobile devices without purchasing a dedicated app. The PlayStation 2 icon format is an obscure, undocumented binary format used strictly within the PS2 console interface, completely unsupported by standard image viewers.

Because these formats are highly proprietary and closed, standard online converters usually fail to process them. You typically need the original software to export the data properly. We will analyze the file header to identify whether it is a recipe database or a console icon. If our analysis detects extractable text (like recipe instructions) or a supported embedded format, viewing or conversion may still be possible.

Convert.Guru analyzes your MC2 file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.

Users also converted MCX, CR2, BMP, JPG, CRB, BYTES, ROOT, MC3 and PS2 files.
