To convert other file formats to the "Automation Configuration File" file type, you need software like MacroDroid or a similar tool.
A .MACRO file is typically an automation script used by the MacroDroid app on Android devices. It contains user-defined triggers, actions, and constraints that automate device tasks. In a smaller percentage of cases, a .MACRO file might actually be a disguised or compressed PDF document associated with Adobe Systems and Microsoft Word, or a game configuration file for the classic MMORPG Ragnarok Online.
The primary issue with .MACRO files is that they are highly app-specific. A MacroDroid script relies on internal Android system calls and proprietary variable structures. You cannot run these scripts natively on iOS, Windows, or web browsers. If you do not have MacroDroid installed, the file appears useless. Similarly, Ragnarok Online macros are hardcoded for an outdated game engine, requiring specific environments to execute safely.
Converting a .MACRO file depends heavily on its origin. Since MacroDroid files use a JSON structure, the best conversion target is standard JSON or plain TXT to inspect the logic and variables. If the file is actually a document, renaming or converting it back to PDF is necessary to restore readability. Note that converting automation scripts to text will lose all execution capabilities; you are only preserving the raw code.
Automation and game setting formats are notoriously difficult to open because they lack standard headers and are designed to be read only by their parent software. Often, only the original software can properly read or export the data.
