About MICRO files
The .micro file extension is attached to personal files that have been maliciously encrypted by the TeslaCrypt (versions 2.0 and 3.0) ransomware trojan. When a computer is infected, the malware targets documents, images, and databases, locking them and appending .micro to the original filename. To restore these files, users traditionally need specific security software such as TeslaDecoder. The major disadvantage of this format is that the file is completely inaccessible and mathematically scrambled. It requires a cryptographic key to open, and the original software that created the file (like Microsoft Word or Adobe Photoshop) will no longer recognize it.
