To convert other file formats to the "Game Configuration Settings File" file type, you need software like S.T.A.L.K.E.R. X-Ray Engine or a similar tool.
About LTX files
The .LTX file extension is most famously used by the X-Ray Engine, the core technology behind the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. series by GSC Game World. In this context, .LTX files function as plain-text configuration scripts that define game logic, object parameters, weapon stats, and environmental variables. Modders frequently interact with these files to alter gameplay mechanics. Alternatively, the .LTX extension is utilized as a source document for the LaTeX typesetting system, containing plain text paired with markup tags that define document structure. While .LTX files are inherently plain text and can be opened in basic editors like Notepad++, managing them can be highly frustrating. S.T.A.L.K.E.R. config files use specific, undocumented formatting syntax that easily breaks if modified incorrectly. LaTeX files present an even bigger hurdle: they are not readable documents but rather raw code that must be compiled into a finished layout. You cannot easily send a LaTeX .LTX to a client or colleague and expect them to open it without installing gigabytes of specialized software like TeX Live or MiKTeX. To make these files usable, you must convert them. For LaTeX documents meant for distribution or printing, compiling to PDF is the absolute standard, as it locks the typesetting in place. If you need to edit the text in a conventional word processor, converting the file to DOCX or RTF is recommended, though you will lose complex mathematical formatting. For S.T.A.L.K.E.R. game data, converting to standard TXT or XML formats makes the data easier to parse and share within modding communities.
Convert.Guru analyzes your LTX file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.

The LTX Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our LTX converter.
