To convert other file formats to the "Collaboration Data" file type, you need software like Microsoft Loop or a similar tool.

About LOOP files

A .LOOP file is predominantly a Microsoft Loop collaborative component. Introduced in Microsoft 365, these files represent live, synchronizing blocks of content - such as tables, task lists, or paragraphs - shared across apps like Microsoft Teams, Outlook, and Word. Alternatively, a smaller subset of .LOOP files are used by Apple GarageBand and Logic Pro as internal PLIST files to store metadata for audio loops.

The primary disadvantage of Microsoft .LOOP files is their severe cloud dependency. They are proprietary, locked into the Microsoft ecosystem, and require an active, paid Microsoft 365 subscription to interact with natively. They cannot be easily opened offline or sent to external clients who lack the software. Similarly, Apple's .LOOP format relies on macOS frameworks and is useless without the corresponding audio data. Because these files are either complex live-sync endpoints built on the Fluid Framework or internal XML data arrays, standard online converters completely fail to process them. You cannot simply 'convert' a live websocket document into a static image using typical tools.

Users typically want to convert Microsoft .LOOP files to standard formats like DOCX, PDF, or TXT to share static snapshots with external users. For Apple's version, users may want to extract the XML data to TXT.

Because this file format is difficult to open or convert, often only the original software can properly read or export the data. If our analysis detects supported underlying or embedded text data, viewing or extraction is still possible.

Convert.Guru analyzes your LOOP file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.

Users also converted WAV, ZIP, WTC, PND, DDI, PDF, VIDEO, MIDI and MARKDOWN files.

The LOOP Converter Story

The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our LOOP converter.
